Many remain without power; Drive-thru Trunk or Treat still scheduled for tonight in LaPlace

LAPLACE — As of 10:05 a.m., many residents still find themselves without power. Entergy Louisiana reports there are 3,609 customers in St. John the Baptist and 17,662 in St. Charles Parish still without power.
This shows an improvement since 7 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Parish, when there were more than 5,000 customers without power.
Entergy also reminds residents to stay alert for natural gas leaks. If you smell natural gas or hear a blowing or hissing noise, open a window and leave the area immediately. There are no road closures currently in St. John Parish, but please exercise caution on roadways as there could be still be downed power lines, trees and debris from Zeta.
All Parish Government Offices are open today. All public schools, St. Charles Catholic and River Parishes Community College are operating virtually, and Riverside Academy is closed.
The Drive-Thru St. John Parish Trunk or Treat will take place as scheduled this evening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the St. John Community Center in LaPlace.
