LAPLACE — St. Charles Catholic High School’s homecoming court is always made up of 14 young ladies from eighth through 12th grade, all of whom are voted onto the court by their classmates. The court is presented before the game after a motorcade and again at half-time while escorted by St. Charles Catholic alumni.
The SCC Homecoming Social will follow on Saturday, October 31, 2020, and is sponsored by the SCC Student Council. In addition, the Student Council sponsors dress down and other activities throughout the homecoming week.
This year’s court members are as follows, in grade order:
8th grade: Carlaya Scott & Gabrielle Oubre
9th Grade: Emily Twiner & Layla Jackson
10th Grade: Sarah Lang & Bella Marix
11th grade: Julia Gilberti & Chardae Victorian
12th Grade: Antoinette Chiarella, Miranda Hotard, Lyric Williams, Melody Newsome, Courtney Brouwer & Lauren St. Martin
The Homecoming Queen will be selected by the student body from the list of six senior court members. The winner will be announced at halftime of the game on October 30!
SCC Welcomes Alumni at Homecoming Game
SCC will have an Alumni Tent at the homecoming game where alumni can win prizes and meet the new Director of Admissions and Alumni, Carly Flynn. Alumni escorts will be honored during half time of the game as they escort the outstanding young ladies of the Homecoming Court.
The game will take place at Thomas J. Dupuy Stadium beginning at 7 p.m. versus Franklinton High School. Tickets for the game are available in the front office of the school for $8 each. Gov. John Bel Edwards amended his Phase 3 order for outdoor high school sports by allowing outdoor stadiums in parishes with lower rates of positive COVID tests to move to 50 percent capacity, up from 25 percent. Fortunately, we will up our capacity for our homecoming game this Friday night. Tickets will be sold in the front office. If any tickets are still available, they will be sold at the gate Friday night. However, the chances of this happening are slim. Please note that Century Club and Season Passes will be honored. Unfortunately, we will not be hosting our alumni cook-off this year due to COVID-19 restrictions. For the game, SCC will follow COVID-19 precaution procedures, and masks are required to enter the gate.
SCC Celebrates Homecoming Week at School
SCC is celebrating Homecoming this week with many fun activities and dress down days. Students and faculty all enjoyed wearing pajamas as well as being treated to donuts on Monday, PJ Day. Each day is themed according to the dress down guidelines: PJ Day, Sports Day, Hawaiian Day, Halloween Costume Day and Color Day! On Friday, the school will celebrate a pep rally in the stadium as students gear up for the big game!
