Boy Scouts of America honors St. Charles Parish President Matthew Jewell

DESTREHAN — The Boy Scouts of America, Southeast Louisiana Council announced St. Charles Parish President Matthew Jewell as the 2020 Golden Eagle Award Recipient for their annual Scouting Breakfast on Oct. 29 at Cypress Lakes Country Club in Destrehan.
The Golden Eagle Scouting Breakfast raises essential funding to support the Boy Scouts in St. Charles and St. John the Baptist parishes.
“The Boy Scouts of America is proud to recognize noteworthy and extraordinary leadership of individuals with the Golden Eagle Award,” said Matt Miller, associate development director for the Southeast Louisiana Council. “The individuals who receive this award serve to inspire our youth to lead, accept responsibility and care about principles and causes beyond self-interest. Honoring Golden Eagles in our community delivers a message that character counts and puts into place guideposts to lead young men and women into adulthood. We are proud to recognize President Jewell as this year’s recipient.

The Southeast Louisiana Council, Boy Scouts of America delivers the foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training, which helps young people be “Prepared. For Life.” The Southeast Louisiana Council is composed of more than 6,800 youth members between the ages of 5 and 21 and approximately 1,900 volunteers in 11 parishes.
