RESERVE — The Riverside Academy Rebels were supposed to travel to Baton Rouge Friday night to face Woodlawn in the highly anticipated 2020 football season opener. Plans changed when three Woodlawn players tested positive for COVID-19, forcing the cancellation of the game.
Rebels Coach Kevin Dizer was notified of the cancellation Thursday evening. By Friday morning, he was feverishly searching for a replacement Week One opponent, determined to give the hard working athletes on the team their chance to play.
By Friday evening, Riverside had secured a new opponent. The Rebels will travel to Caldwell Parish High School today, Oct. 3, to officially kick off their football season at 6 p.m.
The game will take place at 163 Spartan Drive in Columbia, Louisiana. Tickets will be available to purchase at the gate.
