Supplies needed for Hurricane Laura; St. John parish and United Way partner

President Hotard announces partnership with St. John United Way to collect supplies for residents impacted by Hurricane Laura.

Supplies can be dropped off from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, through Friday, September 4, at the St. John Community Center located at 2900 Hwy 51 in LaPlace. Monetary donations can be made through St. John United Way at www.stjohnunitedway.org or by check payable to the St. John United Way (please include SJUW Hurricane Relief Fund in memo section).

“Gratefully, we were spared from Hurricane Laura and now can support recovery efforts for our neighbors to the West,” said Parish President Hotard. “Having recovered from Hurricane Isaac, St. John can definitely empathize with what they are going through and we are committed to helping those in their time of need.”

The following is a list of items that the Parish is collecting:

Water

Toilet paper

Hand sanitizer

Toothbrushes/toothpaste

Soap

Shampoo

Deodorant

Feminine products

Depends (men/women)

Baby food, formula, bottles, diapers, wipes

Cleaning & sanitizing products

Masks

Package undergarments & socks (No other clothing will be expected per FEMA guidelines)

Towels

Non-perishable foods (Gatorade, pop tarts, granola bars)
