The St. Charles Catholic Comets are pictured at a Wednesday afternoon practice, hours before Hurricane Laura made landfall near Lake Charles. The practice was cut short due to rain, and tackling is not permitted under Phase Two reopening guidance. Coach Frank Monica said the Louisiana High School Athletic Association has set a tentative season start date for Friday, Oct. 9.

“If we have to keep delaying it, time is running out for us as far as cramming in everything before the championships,” Monica said.
