CONVENT – NFL Superstar Jarvis Landry of the Cleveland Browns gave back to his hometown of Convent over the weekend with a backpack giveaway for 500 underprivileged children of the St. James Parish area.
Organizers said the inaugural Jarvis Landry Back to School Drive helped students prepare for the upcoming school year while encouraging positivity and excitement despite the abnormal challenges facing education systems amidst COVID-19.
Backpacks were pre-packaged with school supplies, hygiene items and some of Landry’s favorite swag and products. The event was held Saturday at the Convent Senior Center with social distancing and COVID-19 safety guidelines in place. Families remained in their vehicles while entering and exiting the supply line.
