Parks & Rec offers summer activities

RESERVE— The community asked for summer activities, and the St. John the Baptist Parish Parks and Recreation Department has answered the call. There are numerous community recreation events for children and adults scheduled for the remainder of August.

A free tennis clinic will be offered to boys and girls ages 7 to 14 on Saturday, Aug. 29. The clinic will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. at Greenwood Park, located at 398 Greenwood Drive in LaPlace.

A free softball/baseball clinic will be held for boys and girls ages 7 to 14 on Saturday, Aug. 22.

The clinic will be broken into two sessions based on age group. The 7- to 9-year-olds will participate from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Meanwhile, the 10- to 14-year-olds will participate from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Both sessions will be held at REGALA Park, located at 200 REGALA Park Rd. in Reserve.

Onsite registration for the softball/baseball clinic will be available at 12:30 p.m. and between sessions from 2:30 to 3 p.m.

Temperature screenings will be conducted upon entering the clinic. Face coverings are mandatory and will be provided. Social distancing will be enforced. Participants are asked to please bring their own water bottle.

Line dancing and water aerobics are also being held for adults throughout the month of August.

Water aerobics are held at the REGALA pool from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. each Monday, Wednesday and Friday, while line dancing is held at the REGALA Gymnasium from 6 to 7 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday.
