RESERVE – Louisiana State Police reported that Andrea Adams, 49, of Monroe, was killed early Thursday morning in a three-vehicle crash that occurred on U.S. 61 Southbound at LA 637 (West 10th Street) in Reserve.
Louisiana State Police Troop B began investigating the crash shortly before 1 a.m. Thursday morning. The initial investigation that the crash occurred as Adams, the rear seat passenger, was traveling in a blue 2014 Toyota Corolla, southbound on US 61 near LA 637. At the same time, a black Dodge Ram pick-up was traveling behind the Toyota Corolla at a high rate of speed.
For reasons still under investigation, the Ram struck the rear of the Corolla, causing it to rotate and strike another Ram pick-up in the rear. The Corolla and the Ram exited the roadway to the right and into a drainage canal.
Adams suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene. The driver and front seat passenger of the Corolla were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Ram pick-up was also transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.
Speed is suspected to be a factor in the crash. Impairment is not suspected to have been a factor in the crash, but standard toxicology results are pending.
While not all crashes are survivable, Louisiana State Troopers would like to remind motorists that having a conversation with your loved ones about the hazards of driving and the clear and present dangers of operating a motor vehicle. Making good choices while in motor vehicles, such as never driving while impaired, avoiding all distractions and obeying all traffic laws can often mean the difference between life and death.
