LAPLACE — One thousand children received backpacks, school supplies and hygiene kits to start the 2020-2021 school year off right at Saturday’s Blessed to Be a Blessing Backpack Extravaganza.
The return to public schools this year is expected to include a mix of in-person and virtual learning. The July 18 e-edition provided an overview of the School District’s Strong Start plan. This story can be viewed online at lobservateur.com.
L’OBSERVATEUR will publish a two-part Back to School special on July 29 and Aug. 5 with extensive information on the safe return to schools. An interview with new superintendent Dr. Lynett Hookfin will also be included.

Exactly 1,000 backpacks were given to children at the St. John Community Center. This year’s giveaway was conducted in a drive-thru format.
