WALLACE — The German Coast Preservation Guild, a local nonprofit group, has a goal to sell 50 T-shirts to help fund its current research project. The group has collected oral histories over the past few months with plans to partner with a local space and create a temporary exhibit.

Shirts are available in yellow, blue, pink or white and range in size from XS to 3XL. The design depicts a bird building a nest next to the phrase, “Piti à piti zozo fait son nid,” which translates to, “little by little, the bird builds its nest.”

“This suited us perfectly because we were two young adults pursuing our dreams of preserving our local history. We had big goals and empty pockets,” organizer Courtni Waguespack said. “This Creole proverb renewed our spirits and gave us the motivation to keep working towards our goal, step by step. Your purchase will help fund future research projects, scholarships, and special events to raise awareness of the significance of our historic sites.”

The public can help bring this vision to life by purchasing a T-shirt at https://www.bonfire.com/german-coast-preservation-guild/.
