The SJSO Search and Rescue Team had a busy weekend out on the water as many people enjoyed boating at local waterways for the Fourth of July holiday.
Sheriff Mike Tregre reports that the team performed eight safety checks on July 3 and 24 checks on July 4. The team also rescued a stalled boat with two adults and seven children July 4 in Lake Pontchartrain.
As people continue to hit the waterways this summer, Search and Rescue officers remind people to charge phones, wear life jackets and have other personal floatation and safety equipment ready. Also, please be mindful of the weather.
