Registrar of Voters highlights important dates for July 11 election

LAPLACE — St. John Registrar of Voters Russell H. Jack Jr. outlined important dates for the July 11, 2020 election.
The Democrat and Republican Presidential Preference Primary is open only to those who are registered Democrats or Republicans. Only those who are registered Democrats in State Representative District 56 will participate in the District 56 Democratic State Central Committee Election. (Precincts 5-4 & 5-7).
Please be aware of the following important dates:
- Wednesday, June 10 – Last Day to Register to Vote in person or mail.
- Saturday, June 20 -Last Day to Register to Vote Online at geauxvote.com
- Tuesday,July 7-Last Day to request Absentee by Mail Ballots.
Early voting will be from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, June 20 through Saturday, July 4.
The St. John Registrar of Voters is located in the Courthouse at 2393 Hwy.18 in Edgard on the West Bank and in the Government Complex at 1811 W. Airline Hwy. in LaPlace on the East Bank.
Friday, July 10 is the last day for the Registrar to receive absentee ballots.
Saturday July 11 is Election Day, and polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Anyone age 65 or older or with underlying health conditions such as
cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes or other conditions with an increased risk for COVID-19 can go to www.geauxvote.com and fill out an application to receive a mail-in ballot for this election.
