Tuesday update: St. John reporting 804 COVID-19 cases

LAPLACE — There were 804 of reported COVID-19 cases and 76 deaths in St. John the Baptist Parish on Tuesday, according to the Louisiana Department of Health. This marks an increase of 3 additional cases and a decrease of 1 death since Monday’s report. The decrease of in number of deaths occurs when the residency of a victim was been found to be incorrect.
St. Charles Parish has 596 reported cases and 43 deaths, while St. James has 256 reported cases and 20 deaths.
Statewide, there are 32,050 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across all 64 parishes. This marks an increase of 235 cases since yesterday’s report.
There were 2,281 deaths statewide as of Tuesday, which was an increase of 39 since Monday’s report. The first death in the state was reported on March 14.
According to the Louisiana Department of Health, there are 1,320 COVID-19 patients in hospitals across the state. Of these patients, 146 are on ventilators.
The state is now reporting that 22,608 people who have tested positive are presumed to have recovered as of May 10.

-Barber shops, nail salons, hair salons and bars that offer food service, casinos and video poker, museums, zoos and aquariums can operate at a 25 percent of their normal capacity.
St. John curfew will be lifted Friday.
St. John Sheriff, Mike Tregre, announced the overnight curfew put into place April 1 in St. John the Baptist Parish will expire as the parish moves to Phase One under the White House COVID-19 guidance on Friday, May 15. This removes the Stay at Home order for Louisianans and allows additional businesses to open under strict occupancy, protection and social distancing guidelines.
