Thursday update: St. John Parish reports 791 COVID-19 cases

LAPLACE — There were 791 of reported COVID-19 cases and 76 deaths in St. John the Baptist Parish on Thursday, according to the Louisiana Department of Health.
There was 790 reported cases of COVID-19 and 75 deaths in St. John the Baptist Parish on Wednesday.
St. Charles Parish has 594 reported cases and 43 deaths, while St. James has 256 reported cases and 20 deaths.
Statewide, there are 30,652 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across all 64 parishes. This marks an increase of 253 cases since yesterday’s report.
There were 2,135 deaths statewide as of Thursday, which was an increase of 93 since Wednesday’s report. The first death in the state was reported on March 14.
According to the Louisiana Department of Health, there are 1,432 COVID-19 patients in hospitals across the state. Of these patients, 189 are on ventilators.
The state is now reporting that 20,316 people who have tested positive are presumed to have recovered as of May 2.

Governor John Bel Edwards has extended his Stay at Home order for Louisiana residents through May 15.
