Shawn Loupe of John L. Ory Communication Arts Magnet School was one of only three fourth graders throughout Louisiana to qualify for the National Geographic Society’s state-level Geobee competition.

The state competition was unfortunately cancelled due to coronavirus concerns, according to an official statement.

The Geobee is an annual geography contest sponsored by the National Geographic Society. It is open to fourth through eighth graders from participating schools across the country. John L. Ory was the first school in St. John the Baptist Parish to adopt the Geobee, and Interim Principal Robert Schaff hopes to see it expand throughout the school district.
