Friday Report: St. John reporting 771 COVID-19

LAPLACE — As of the Friday update from the Louisiana Department of Health, there have been 771 reported cases of COVID-19 and 71 deaths in St. John the Baptist Parish. 

On Thursday, there were 768 recorded cases and 69 deaths in St. John Parish.  

St. Charles Parish has 573 reported cases and 38 deaths, while St. James has 247 reported cases and 19 deaths. 

Statewide, there are 28, 711 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across all 64 parishes. This marks an increase of 710 cases since yesterday’s report. 

There have been 1,927 deaths statewide, which is an increase of 65 since Thursday’s report. The first death in the state was reported on March 14. 

According to the Louisiana Department of Health, there are 1,607 COVID-19 patients in hospitals across the state. Of these patients, 230 are on ventilators. 

The state is now reporting that 17,303 people who have tested positive are presumed to have recovered as of April 26.

Edwards has extended his Stay at Home order for Louisiana residents through May 15. 

  • In honor of all who have lost their lives to the coronavirus, Parish President Jaclyn Hotard has ordered all flags in St. John the Baptist Parish to fly at half-staff until further notice.
