LAPLACE — As of the Friday update from the Louisiana Department of Health, there have been 736 reported cases of COVID-19 and 63 deaths in St. John the Baptist Parish.

On Thursday, there were 721 recorded cases and 59 deaths in St. John Parish.

St. Charles Parish has 536 reported cases and 34 deaths, while St. James has 237 reported cases and 19 deaths.

Statewide, there are 26,140 confirmed cases of COVID-19 across all 64 parishes. This marks an increase of 401 cases since yesterday’s report.

There have been 1,601 deaths statewide, which is an increase of 61 since Thursday’s report. The first death in the state was reported on March 14.

According to the Louisiana Department of Health, there are 1,697 COVID-19 patients in hospitals across the state. Of these patients, 286 are on ventilators.

Additionally the state is reporting there are 14,927 cases that are presumed to be recovered.
