In a reversal from information released earlier this week, the IRS announced seniors on social security who do not normally file a tax return will automatically get their $1,200 stimulus payment.
This decision removes extra hurdles and helps the most vulnerable population receive financial aid using information the government already has on file.
“Social Security recipients who are not typically required to file a tax return need to take no action, and will receive their payment directly to their bank account,” said Treasury Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin.
