St. John reports third COVID-19 case

St. John the Baptist Parish – As elevated levels of testing continues, St. John Parish was recently notified of another case of COVID-19 of a St. John Parish resident. This brings the total number of cases to three (3) for St. John Parish. All cases are being treated in another Parish.

No additional information was given (HIPAA and certain laws prevent this) and LDH is tasked with the epidemiology. However, we anticipate additional cases in the future as testing heightens.
Please continue to follow CDC recommendations to help stop the spread within our community and know that we will continue to keep you informed as we receive pertinent information.
Keep you and your loved ones protected:
  • Cover your cough
  • Stay home if you are sick
  • Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly with soap and water, if soap and water are not available use hand sanitizer containing at least 60% alcohol
  • Disinfect frequently touched surfaces
  • Avoid close contact (within six feet) with those who are sick
  • Do not gather in groups of more than 10
