St. Rose shooting suspect arrested

ST. ROSE—Sheriff Champagne announced the arrest of Joseph Washington in connection with a shooting that occurred on Feb. 29, in the Charlestowne Subdivision.

At about 7:20 p.m on Feb 29 the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office was informed of a shooting that occurred at 1 Summerton Drive in St. Rose. Deputies arrived on scene and made contact with the victim, a 38-year-old male, that suffered from what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head. Reported to be a resident of Reserve, the victim was conscious and alert, and was immediately transferred to the University Medical Center in New Orleans for medical treatment.

 

During the course of the investigation, detectives obtained sufficient probable cause to have an arrest warrant issued for Joseph Washington in connection with the shooting.

 

On March 2 just before midnight Joseph Washington turned himself in. Joseph Washington was placed under arrest and transported to the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center where he was charged with one count of Aggravated Battery with a Dangerous Weapon. As of press time Joseph Washington is being held at the Correctional Center with no bond.
