SCC girls soccer advances in playoffs: Comets secure 2-0 win over Covenant Christian

LAPLACE – The St. Charles Catholic girls’ soccer team entered the opening round of the Division IV playoffs as the No. 11 seed and hosted No. 22 seed Covenant Christian Lions on Friday evening. The Comets took care of business and will advance and travel to play No. 6 Catholic N.I. at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

SCC had a very successful regular season with a record of 12-5-1. The Comets have a complete team that is capable of producing goals on offense and shutting down the opponent on defense. During the regular season they have outscored opponents 54-19. They have also shut out 12 of their 18 opponents during the regular season.

The winner of the SCC/Catholic N.I. game will face the winner of No. 3 Episcopal/ No. 14 Holy Savior Menard game in the Quarterfinals of the Division IV State Playoffs. State Championship matches for all divisions will be held Feb. 26-29 at Strawberry Stadium on the campus of Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond.
