St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Officers apprehend stolen vehicle suspect

Sheriff Greg Champagne is pleased to announce the apprehension of Michael John in connection to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office vehicle theft that occurred on Feb. 3.
Just before 8 p.m. on Feb. 4, two detectives from the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted surveillance near an area in New Orleans where Michael John was known to frequent. They observed Michael John walk into a convenience store where they were able to detain him without incident.
Currently, Michael John is being transported to St. Charles Parish for questioning and to be booked into jail for charges of Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Theft, Aggravated Flight from an Officer, and Aggravated Escape. A search for any active warrants for his arrest will be performed.
Resulting from a thorough, but still ongoing investigation, a criminal with an extensive history was taken off the streets this evening thanks to the hard work of the men and women of the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.
