Penn places in powerboat championship

LAPLACE — Louisiana home based offshore powerboat race team Unleashed took the podium for second place in Class 4 at the annual Offshore Powerboat Association (OPA) World Championships in Englewood, Florida. on Nov. 24.
Owner/Driver Shannon Penn who owns Shannon’s Body Shop in LaPlace raced in choppy Gulf water conditions with World Champion Throttleman Micheal Stancombe of Indianapolis.
Penn said “Powerboat racing is one of the most challenging sports in the world and I am proud to bring a trophy home for the 2019 season. We have an incredible and professional working crew that comes to each race site from all over the U.S.”
The team is working on the 2020 National racing schedule where they will compete with offshore teams from around the world.
