Public defender successful
EDGARD — At the St. John the Baptist Parish Courthouse in Edgard, on Thursday, Nov. 7, in a stunning defeat to prosecutors, Elizabeth Goree, actively participating in her first jury trial and a lawyer for less than one month, teamed up with mentor Lisa Parker, an experienced Public Defender, to get this result in a multi-day day trial for a client charged with three counts of Armed Robbery with a Firearm: Count 3= Not Guilty, Count 2= Not Guilty, Count 1= Hung Jury.
It was reported that discussions among the jurors became so heated that presiding Judge Madeline Jasmine ordered deputies to intervene.
