East St. John tops Central Lafourche 54 – 19

RACELAND – East St. John was coming off a huge victory against Destrehan in week 7 of the football season. The Wildcats looked to continue their winning ways as they traveled to Raceland to face the Central Lafourche Trojans.

East St. John came out strong and got on the scoreboard with an 8-yard touchdown run by Dontae Fleming early in the game. Sean Shelby added to the lead when he hit Markel August on an 18-yard touchdown pass for a 14 – 0 Wildcat lead. Shelby added a 2-yard touchdown run to extend the lead in the first half, and Fleming scored his second touchdown of the game with a 66-yard touchdown run. East St. John led 33 – 0 at halftime.

The Wildcats continued their dominance in the second half with a touchdown pass to August and another touchdown run by Shelby. Central Lafourche scored a few times in the second half, but it was a little too late as the Wildcats cruised to a 54-19 victory.

The Wildcats improved to 6-2 on the season and remained in the hunt for the District Title. East St. John will be back home next week to host the Terrebonne Tigers next week in a District 7-5A matchup.
