RESERVE – East St. John looked to get back on track after a tough loss to Hahnville in Week 5 of the football season. The Wildcats (3-2) got a break from district play to host Helen Cox (2-3) on Friday night.

The Wildcats struck first with a 10-yard touchdown run by Calvin Gardner for the 7-0 lead. The East St. John special teams got in on the action by blocking a punt to gain possession on the Cox 1-yard line. A Sean Shelby quarterback sneak extended the lead to 14-0 in the first quarter.

The football game faced a lengthy delay at the end of the first quarter because of inclement weather.

Because of the weather delay, the game was cancelled on Friday and will resume at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12.
