Riverside gets upended 45 – 20

NEW ROADS- The Riverside Academy Rebels came into Week 4 looking to right the ship after opening the season with three tough losses. The Rebels traveled to New Roads to play the Catholic-Pointe Coupee Hornets.

The Hornets featured a triple-option running attack that proved to be challenging for the Rebels, ending the game with a 45-20 loss for Riverside Academy. The Hornets opened the scoring with a 16-yard touchdown run on their opening possession and added a 79-yard touchdown run in the first quarter to go up 14-0. With 7:12 left in the second quarter, Catholic-Pointe Coupee scored again on a 60-yard touchdown run for the 21-0 lead. A hookup between Gage Larvadain and Luke Hymel on a 30-yard touchdown pass put Riverside on the scoreboard 21 – 6.

The Hornets scored again on a 15-yard touchdown run right before halftime for the 28 – 6 lead. Catholic- Pointe Coupee added another touchdown midway through the third quarter on a 33-yard touchdown pass for the 35-6 lead.

Larvadain hit Tayryn Lockhart on a 40-yard touchdown pass to make the score 35 – 12 in the fourth quarter. Hymel added another score on a 15-yard touchdown pass to Andre Murphy with a 2-point conversion by Nick Washington for the 35-20 score.

The Hornets added a late score on a quarterback keeper to extend the lead 45 – 20.

Riverside Academy will be back at home next week to face Sophie B. Wright.
