Volunteer pilot Glenn Northcott made a quick stop at the Port of South Louisiana Executive Regional Airport last week as part of Operation LA Pilot Outreach, a one-day mission to reach all 69 airports in Louisiana while spreading the word about Pilots for Patients.
Pilots for Patients is a 501c3 volunteer pilot organization that eases the burden of transportation to and from medical treatment. The service is provided completely free of charge for qualifying patients who need help getting to a medical facility for a diagnosis or treatment not available locally. This need may be financial, medical or logistical.
Travel assistance is provided to M.D. Anderson in Houston, St. Jude in Memphis, the Arkansas Children’s Hospital and other medical centers. Patients must be able to climb into a small private aircraft and sit upright for the flight. A five-to-seven day notice is needed to arrange flights. For more information, call 318-322-5112.
