Young artists ages 5 to 18 are invited to capture the plants, animals and landscapes of local National Wildlife Refuges for the annual Wild Things Youth Art Contest and Exhibition.

The contest spotlights Louisiana’s native wildlife and habitats through drawing and painting. All artwork will be featured in an exhibition at the annual Wild Things event in Lacombe on Oct. 12.

The following mediums are accepted: drawing (pencil, pen and ink, charcoal or pastel) and painting (oils, watercolors, tempera, acrylics or pastel). Artists may submit only one entry. Ribbons and prizes will be awarded to winners.

Art must be received by 4 p.m. Sept. 27. Please mail to Art Contest, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, 61389 Highway 434, Lacombe, LA 70445.
