Little: Your chamber is hard at work

The River Region Chamber of Commerce held a general membership meeting in St. Charles Parish on July 29 at the St. Charles Community Center. It was well attended and featured Governor John Bel Edwards as the keynote speaker. This type of event is one example of how the Chamber provides “value” for its members. Extra thanks to St. Charles Parish for co-hosting this event with us. We also are looking to reschedule Congressman Cedric Richmond before year-end for the next general membership meeting.

This month, the Chamber plans to host parish president candidate forums in each of the three parishes. A moderator will conduct the discussion. Each candidate will have an opportunity to give opening and closing remarks and answer questions posed by the Public Policy Committee. As an organization which avoids endorsing political candidates, the Chamber is in a unique position to host this type of session to ensure the community can make the best-informed decisions at the polls. The forums are open to the public and allow citizens access to the candidates.

A recruitment effort is underway for September! Volunteers will come together for a day and set a goal to recruit a certain number of businesses. This is a great time for businesses that haven’t joined yet to take advantage of the year-end investment rate! Stay tuned to your weekly emails and chamber calendar at www.riverregionchamber.org for further details on status and how to join in to help grow the RRCC!

There are also some upcoming networking opportunities you can take advantage of to help maximize your business exposure. Don’t hesitate to contact the Chamber at 985-359-9777 to find out more!

As school starts up, l urge you to remember to be safe. Be careful driving around schools and in School Zones. Avoid cell phone use, especially in carpool lines where children are running in and out.
