Famous quarterback hosts youth football camp

BATON ROUGE — The Doug L. Williams Education & Athletic Foundation presents the 2019 Doug Williams Youth Football Camp Saturday at the Doug Williams Stadium, located at 5763 Hooper Rd. in Baton Rouge.

Free for the first 500 children, the camp teaches first through 12th graders football skills in all essential offensive and defensive positions.

Organizers say the camp, open to River Parishes children, includes the chance to meet famous football players.

Doug Williams is a former quarterback for the Washington Redskins, known fro his phenomenal performance in Super Bowl XXII against the Denver Broncos. He was the first African American starting quarterback to win a Super Bowl.

Other featured guests include Washington Redskins greats Danny Johnson, defensive back; Landon Collins, safety; and Darius Suice, running back.

Session I registration is from 7:30 to 9 a.m.

Session II registration is from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
