RESERVE — Actors, singers, dancers, musicians and technicians are busily preparing for the July 19 opening night of this year’s show, “Grease,” directed by long time St. John Theatre friend Mike Brooks.

Here is Rydell High’s senior class of 1959: duck-tailed, hot-rodding “Burger Palace Boys” and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking “Pink Ladies” in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the 1950s in this rollicking musical.

Head “greaser” Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the romance of their “Summer Nights” as the rest of the gang sings and dances their way through such songs as “Greased Lightnin’,” “It’s Raining on Prom Night,” and “Alone at the Drive-In Movie” recalling the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation.

The Company includes Trey Lowry playing Danny, Keri Clement playing Sandy, Jonathon Dahl playing Kenickie, Sadie Kelly playing Rizzo, Justin Rodgers as Rodger, Averi Rojas as Jan, Jacob Chauvin playing Doody, Maddie Gerhart as Frenchy, Dominic Joseph playing Sonny, Melody Newsome as Marty, Mason Cassioppie playing Eugene, Ashley Toups as Patty, Mandy Mire playing Cha-Cha, Logan Tauzin as Joanie Casino, Jerrett Ramagar as Johnny Casino, Mitchell Kogan as Teen Angel, Dennis Tauzin playing Vince Fontaine and Natalie Tauzin playing Miss Lynch.

The Ensemble includes Devin Batiste, Sara Brooks, Jada Brown, Diavian Ceasar, Sophia Clement, Moira Davis, Peyton Dunshee, Desiree Faucheux, Logan Holley, Amanda Laiche, Tadhg Long, James Martin, Darius Mason, Maggie Morton, Tank Nelson, Nico Price, Olivia Reeves, Amanda Selman, Lauren Shaver, Alissa Stutzman, Jenna Toups and Karlie Wombles.

The last time “Grease” was performed on the St. John Theatre Stage was in 1996.  The theater is calling out the cast of the 1996 production for the coolest high school reunion set for July 21.

The vintage cast will meet the current cast for a nostalgic throw down party at the matinee show. It is sure to be a sight to behold. Members of the 1996 cast get into the show free and will be honored at intermission.

“Grease” will run July 19-20 and July 24-27 at the St. John Theatre in Reserve. All shows start at 7:30 p.m., with the exception of the July 21 2:30 p.m. matinee.

Tickets are $15, and $10 for seniors and children. They can be purchased at the door or in advance at Allied Express, starting in July.
