LAPLACE — A Reserve man was killed, authorities said, the result of injuries suffered in a single-vehicle crash during rainstorm conditions Sunday night.

Louisiana State Police identified the victim as 22-year-old Daniel A. Brown.

Troopers said the fatal crash occurred on River Road in LaPace, east of Louisiana Highway 636-2 shortly before 9 p.m.

The initial investigation revealed the crash occurred as Brown was driving a Nissan Altima eastbound in heavy rain.

For reasons under investigation, Brown’s Altima ran off the roadway and struck an abandoned house.

“Brown was properly restrained at the time of the crash, but sustained serious injuries,” according to Louisiana State Police. “He was transported to University Medical Center in New Orleans, where he succumbed to his injuries.”

Impairment is not suspected to have been a factor in the crash, but standard toxicology results are pending.
