LAPLACE — St. John the Baptist Parish announced Friday (March 1) at approximately 9:45 a.m. that the Boil Water Advisory has been lifted for LaPlace.

“You may resume normal water use,” a release from the Parish said. “Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this unforeseen emergency.”

On Thursday, local government said water pressure was slowly being restored to LaPlace as a result of a substantial water leak that crews worked through the night Wednesday to repair.

As a result, a Boil Water Advisory was put in place for all LaPlace water.

It was recommended consumers disinfect their water before eating or drinking, brushing teeth or using it for food preparation by boiling water for a full minute in a clean container.

The Utilities Department lifted the Advisory after receiving notification from the Louisiana Department of Health, indicating water samples collected from Water District #3 are safe.
