Poché: Libraries offer plenty to do this March in St. John Parish

The Norris J. Millet Sr. Library (Central) is hosting computer classes for adult patrons of all ages at 2 p.m. every Wednesday in March

There will now be a Bilingual Storytime held at 6 p.m. every Wednesday. Infants to children 5 years of age, along with their caregivers, are welcome to attend.

Storytime will be held for children and their parents at 10:30 a.m. every Thursday. This weekly program is a time for young children and their parents or caretakers to interact in a comfortable setting.

Each session includes stories, songs, rhymes, finger plays and other activities.

Family Fun at 10:30 a.m. March 9 allows families to play games, make crafts, build structures and read books to celebrate March.

Tweens and teens can come out March 12 to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by making green pancakes.

Infants to children 2 years of age are invited to the new Lapsit Storytime program that will be held at 10 a.m. every Tuesday.

St. John the Baptist Parish 4-H members are invited to the central library for a Robotics Club meeting at 6 p.m. March 13.

There will also be an Anime Club meeting at 6 p.m.  March 28 for all tweens and teens to attend. For information about any of the programs, call 985-652-6857.

Wee Readers’ Book Club will be held at the Leroy D. Williams Memorial Library (Reserve) at 3:30 p.m. March 6 and 13 and 10:30 a.m. March 20 and 27. This story time program invites children, ages 2 to 6, to listen to awesome stories and enjoy an activity associated with them.

The Walking for Your Health program continues at 10 a.m. every Thursday. Studies confirm walking benefits moods by releasing natural endorphins, so join the Reserve Library for 30 minutes of walking to reduce stress and increase your self-esteem.

Make Shoppe will be held at 6 p.m. March 11 for adult patrons to make mannequin pin cushions.

Patrons of all ages are invited out at 10 a.m. March 16 for a Leprechaun Hat Make and Take.

Adult patrons are invited to receive free legal clinic on various legal topics during the Ask-A-Lawyer Clinic at 3 p.m. March 20. Please call the library at 985-536-4107 to schedule an appointment.

The Frazee-Harris Memorial Library will host Drop In and Play at 10 a.m. every Tuesday. Children and their adult caregiver are invited to enjoy some playtime and share legos and playdoh.

Tech Classes will be held at 4:15 p.m. March 6 for tweens and teens and at 11 a.m. March 8 for adult patrons.

Children, ages 5 and older, are invited to come out in their favorite pajamas and slippers to listen to bedtime stories every Thursday at 5 p.m.

Movie matinees will be held at 4:30 p.m. March 11 and 11:30 a.m. March 23. Children, ages 5 and older are welcome to attend.

To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, children are invited to make Mosaic Shamrocks at 4 p.m. March 14. For more information, call 985-535-6868.

Computer classes will be held at the Roland Borne Sr. Memorial Library (Edgard) for adults at 10 a.m. on Mondays and 6 p.m. on Wednesdays. Novice computer users who want to improve their skills are invited to take this 30-minute class.

Storytime starts at 5 p.m. every Wednesday for children ages 5 and older.

Tweens and teens are welcome to attend Game Time, every Thursday in March at 3:30 p.m. This program is designed for kids to put down their smartphones and tablets and play classic board games such as Jenga, Checkers, Candyland and more.

To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, children, ages 6 and older, will make Craft Stick Leprechaun Hats at 2:30 p.m. March 14.

Tweens and teens will make a DIY Basketball Hoop, just in time for March Madness, at 2:30 p.m. March 21. Call 985-497-3453 for more information.
