At approximately 3:23 a.m. Sunday, the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office was contacted about a single vehicle crash that occurred on Interstate 10 West Bound between mile markers 217 and 219.

Sheriff Greg Champagne said first responders discovered the crashed vehicle, a 2006 silver Chrysler Sebring, had what appeared to be numerous bullet holes. A deceased man was located inside the vehicle.

Other occupants in the vehicle were taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Interstate 10 West Bound was closed due to the investigation and all traffic was diverted to Interstate 310. The roadway is now re-opened.

Authorities are holding release of the victim’s name at this time. No arrests have been made.
Evidence on the victim’s vehicle indicates there may have been a collision with a possibly white colored vehicle, police said.
The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office is looking for anyone with information as to a possible hit-and-run involving the victim’s vehicle.

Champagne said the investigation is ongoing and is asking anyone with information about the killing or anyone
traveling on Interstate 10 West Bound between Kenner and LaPlace around 3:23 a.m. Sunday to call Detective Jenni Barrette at 985-783-1135 or 985-783-6807.
