John Drew Vicknair passed away at his residence on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019, at the age of 72.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Reserve.

Drew coached little league baseball and pee wee football for many years. He loved family gatherings, hunting, fishing, catching up with old friends and watching his nephews play ball.

Above all he was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be deeply missed.

Drew was the beloved husband of almost 50 years to Brenda Wright Vicknair; loving father of Jaime Vicknair and Kelly Vicknair; grandfather of Beaux Stone Vicknair; son of the late Joseph Denis Vicknair and Justine Brady Vicknair; and brother of James Carroll Vicknair, Carl Vicknair, Peggy V. Teen, Love Joy V. Catoir, Anita Ann V. Abreo, Susan V. Kinney, Nancy V. Duhe and the late Joseph Denis “J.D.” Vicknair Jr., Joseph Melvin Vicknair and Marie “Kit” V. Ducote.

He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and extended family, friends too numerous to count and his beloved pet “Cayenne.”

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nursing staff at St. James Hospital, Ochsner and St. Catherine’s Hospice for the special care they gave for our loved one.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, 2806 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace on Wednesday, Feb. 6 from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday, Feb. 7 from 9 to 11 a.m.

The Funeral Service will immediately follow at 11 a.m. Interment is in St. Peter Cemetery.
