2 killed, 2 injured in Christmas Eve shooting in Lutcher

LUTCHER — St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies and officers from the Lutcher and Gramercy police departments responded to a shooting near 2176 Main St. in Lutcher at approximately 11:29 p.m. Monday (Dec. 24).

Upon arrival, deputies and officers discovered four individuals had been shot. One of the victims, Thaddeus Watis, 20, from Convent died of a gunshot wound at the scene.

A second victim, Dedrick Paul Green Jr., 23, from Convent, was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead upon arrival due to a gunshot wound.

Two other individuals were also taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds and are currently in guarded condition, St. James Parish Sheriff Willy Martin Jr. announced at approximately noon today (Dec. 25).

Those victims are a juvenile male, 15, from Lutcher and Jerrell Moody, 25, from Vacherie.

At this time, a motive for the shooting has not been determined.

The Sheriff’s Office and police departments are actively investigating. Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office are asking anyone who may have information to contact CrimeStoppers at 1-877-903-STOP.
