Road rage turns to gunshots on Airline Highway in LaPlace

LAPLACE — Road rage turned violent fast Sunday night in LaPlace, ending with a vehicle shot up in the middle of the road, police said.

According to the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office, a 28-year-old man was traveling westbound on Airline Highway in the left lane at approximately 10 p.m. when an orange Dodge Challenger cut in front of him as he was coming to a stop.

The victim said the Challenger’s occupants began a verbal altercation, leading to a Challenger passenger exiting the vehicle, walking to the rear of the complainant’s vehicle and firing multiple shots into the vehicle.

The gunman then fled in the Dodge Challenger.

Police said no one was injured, noting the altercation took place on Airline Highway between Ormond Boulevard and Carrollwood Drive in LaPlace.
