Letter to the Editor: Elected leaders back proposal vote

Published 12:16 am Saturday, December 8, 2018

We are writing to ask you to please vote “Yes” today (Saturday, Dec. 8) on a proposal that would fund vital public health programs in St. John.

An existing millage that supports Health Unit services has generated excess funds.

This proposal allows the parish to use the money to pay for operations of the coroner’s office, including essential mental health services and to continue mosquito control efforts.

Services provided by the health unit will not be reduced by this rededication.

This is NOT A NEW TAX OR A TAX INCREASE! It would allow parish government to put your tax dollars where you say they are most needed.

Efforts to enhance the public health of our residents are a top priority of parish government. Please join us in voting “Yes” on this proposal which will be the last item on your ballot.

All regular polling places will be open until 8 p.m.

Remember to bring a photo ID.

Thank you.
