RESERVE — St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office officers and Sheriff Mike Tregre joined parish first responders Thursday for a Blue Mass celebrated by the Rev. Christopher Amadi and the Rev. Patrick Collum at Our Lady of Grace Church in Reserve.

“Today, we celebrate you,” Amadi told the first responders. “We are here for you today … because every day you are here for us. We want to say ‘thank you … and we appreciate you.”

Deacon Richard Abbondante assisted the priests. Captain Randall Joseph was a lector, and Lt. Marshall Carmouche led the Prayers of the Faithful.

Deputy Bernell Charles and firefighter DeMond Louis were the gift bearers.

Representatives from Collum’s church, St. Joan of Arc, as well as students from St. Peter School, also attended to show support for first responders.

Sheriff Mike Tregre, Parish President Natalie Robottom and several officers with the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office joined other parish first responders for a Blue Mass Thursday at Our Lady of Grace Church.

Tregre and Parish President Natalie Robottom thanked the priests and the congregation for their support.

After the Mass, the clergy led a blessing of police units and emergency vehicles. First responders also enjoyed gumbo, potato salad and cake in the gym.
