RESERVE — District Attorney Bridget A. Dinvaut invites St. John the Baptist Parish residents to an Open House featuring a guided tour of the new Reserve office and information on public programs and services.

The Open House will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at 1342 River Road in Reserve, and Dinvaut said guests are welcome to enter and exit freely.

“It’s not a formal event with speeches,” Dinvaut said.

“The people of the parish can expect to see the offices and understand the different divisions that the District Attorney’s Office is responsible for. We will give them tours, and my staff will be on hand to answer questions.”

Different departments of the District Attorney’s Office include child support, traffic, misdemeanor probation and diversion, intake, victim’s assistance, criminal and civil divisions and administration, Dinvaut said.

Guests will have a chance to peruse the public law library and review handouts on domestic violence, bullying, sexting and other topics.

District Attorney’s Office staff will also provide information on the St. John P.R.O.U.D. workforce initiative and other crime preventive programs offered to the public.

The Open House will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday.

“It’s an opportunity for people of the parish to come in and see what their public institutions looks like,” Dinvaut said. “We want to be transparent and include the community in what we’re doing because this is their building. The taxpayers are paying for it and the services we provide. We’re excited about this new location and the things the District Attorney’s Office is doing.”

The LaPlace location closed in spring 2018 as departments relocated to Reserve, Dinvaut said, adding the move consolidated offices and allowed taxpayers to save money.

She said the public has been pleased with the new, centralized location.

“It’s been a wonderful transition,” Dinvaut said. “We have team building now and better efficiency with everyone under one roof.”

Light refreshments will be served at the Open House.
