Severe weather possible starting Friday evening in St. John

LAPLACE — St. John the Baptist Parish officials warn that beginning Friday night and continuing through Saturday afternoon, Southeast Louisiana including St. John Parish may experience showers and isolated thunderstorms including a slight risk of severe weather and strong winds.
A low pressure system is pushing through the region.
Residents should prepare for weather threats including possible damaging winds, large hail and isolated tornadoes.
Rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches will be possible, which could lead to localized ponding of water in low lying areas and roadways. Preparations include clearing yards and drains of any loose materials and debris , picking up debris in yards and unclogging catch basins.
Parish crews will be on hand in the event issues arise.
