Three students received awards for their artwork that was submitted to the St. John Industrial Group’s annual art contest. These students were presented with certificates at a breakfast ceremony sponsored by the group. Lacy Fox (left) won first place in the 3rd grade division. In the 6th grade division, Krysta Clement (middle) received honorable mention, and Bryleigh Sutherland (right) placed third. This year’s theme was “Our Sustainable Future.”
The third grade students continued a tradition as they dressed as saints of the Catholic Church at a recent school Mass. Each student learned about the saint he/she portrayed, and during the homily Father Pat Collum asked them to share some things they learned. After Mass, the students visited the preschool classrooms and told the school’s youngest students as which saint each was dressed.
Students are presented with “Viking Virtue” cards when they are seen performing kind, selfless acts worthy of recognition. They place their cards in one of the three baskets. Each week three names are pulled. Those students are recognized at the school’s weekly assembly, and Principal Jeffrey Montz communicates their accomplishments to their parents. The students receive special privileges like getting a dress-down day during the week, going to the front of the lunch line with a friend and receiving a treat at recess. The students who earned this honor during October were (bottom) Sawyer Foulon (from left) Lillian Williams, Ava Deroche, Brooklyn Tregre, (2nd row) Nia Gaudet, Travis Marchetta, George Birdrow, (3rd row) Allison Duhe, Aubrey Burl, Rylie Panepinto, (top) Jay Childs, Charlize Rousseve-Kirklon, Logan Barrios, (not pictured) Layla Jackson, and Noelle Remondet.
