DESTREHAN – A local man was killed on Thanksgiving, authorities said, the result of a two-vehicle wreck along Airline Highway in St. Charles Parish.

Louisiana State Police Troop B officers are investigating the fatal crash, which took place shortly before 3 p.m. near the intersection of Airline Highway and East Harding Street in Destrehan.

The crash claimed the life of 31-year-old Cedrick Victor of Montz, police said.

The preliminary investigation indicated Victor was driving a Toyota Camry north on East Harding toward Airline Highway when, “for unknown reasons,” he failed to yield at a stop sign.

The Camry traveled into the path of a Pontiac G6, driven by 20-year-old Lawrence Ferrell III of River Ridge, leading to a collision.

Victor was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased, police said, who also noted Ferrell was taken to University Medical Center with moderate injuries.

Victor was restrained at the time of the crash and impairment is unknown. A toxicology test will be performed following an autopsy.

Ferrell was not restrained and voluntarily submitted to a blood test, which will be analyzed by the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.
