Port of South Louisiana joins international maritime association

LAPLACE — The Port of South Louisiana has joined the International Association of Maritime and Port Professionals (IAMPE) as a Port Executive Education Partner.

Port Executive Director Paul Aucoin was also awarded the Accredited Marine Port Executive Professional Certification, accredited by the Association and in partnership with the Loeb-Sullivan Graduate School of International Business and Logistics at Maine Maritime Academy.

“We are very pleased with our association with the IAMPE and to be designated an Executive Management Educational Partner,” Aucoin said. “We look forward to working with the Association on future educational opportunities to further enhance the professionalism of the port and terminal industry.”

Capt. Jeff Monroe, director of educational programs and standards for the Association, welcomes the opportunity to work with the professionals at the largest tonnage port in the Western Hemisphere.

“We also congratulate Paul Aucoin on achieving the professional certification of Accredited Marine Port Executive, Class of 2018,” Monroe said. “In addition to Paul, we congratulate Dale Hymel-AMPE, Chief Operating Officer of the Port, who also achieved the AMPE certification.”

The IAMPE is a non-profit educational institution that hosts management seminars and provides professional certification to port and maritime managers.

Programs are reviewed and approved for certification by the Associations Board, comprised of over 20 industry professionals.
