Robottom: Don’t miss out on Andouille Fest fun

The 45th Annual St. John Parish Andouille Festival presented by Marathon Petroleum Company is taking place this weekend and is filled with great music, rides, crafts and, of course, delicious food.

This year’s festival continues through Sunday at Thomas F. Daley Memorial Park, located at 2900 U.S. 51 in LaPlace. Amusement rides, bands, games, arts and crafts, children’s activities and more are happening, now along with cooking demonstrations, a Second Line Parade, an Andouille Walk/Run and children’s art tent.

Live entertainment for the festival main stage includes Bucktown All-Stars, Mojeaux, 90 Degrees West, Keith Frank and the Souileau Zydeco Band, Shot Time, Faith Becnel & the Music Krewe and more.

The Gospel Tent will feature headliner Wayne Anthony from the James Cleveland Singers “God is” on Sunday and bands will also be rocking the Kid’s Tent throughout the weekend.

Food vendors have an assortment of delicacies including andouille eggrolls, fried andouille chips, seafood pasta, crawfish bisque, jambalaya, pastalaya, gumbo, Cajun ribs, smothered okra, crawfish balls, Asian andouille shrimp and more!

Enjoying the festival Friday in LaPlace were Jeremiah Brown, 7; Tia Davis; Rená Gomez; and LaShad Williams, 7.

Craft vendors will also be on site selling unique items such as jewelry, candles, bags, scarves, wreaths, homemade salsa, baked goods and holiday décor.

Additionally, festival posters, hot sauce, festival memorabilia, T-shirts and more will be available for sale at the General Store (located near the entry gate) all weekend!

On Sunday, the annual Andouille Run, a 5-mile run and 2-mile run/walk, begin at 8 a.m. at the festival grounds. Admission to the festival is $3 for adults and $1 for children ages 3-12. The festival is open from 11 a.m. to midnight today and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday.
