LSP release information on vehicle that killed LaPlace resident; public’s help sought

LAPLACE  — Louisiana State Police have narrowed down the type of vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run death of a LaPlace resident.

This morning (Oct. 21), authorities said the suspect vehicle that struck 55-year-old Danny Simoneaux is one of the following: a 1999-2002 Chevrolet Silverado, a 2000-2006 Chevrolet Tahoe or a 2000-2007 Chevrolet Suburban.

The suspect vehicle will have damage to its right headlight, right bumper area and hood.

Investigating Troopers are reviewing evidence and are asking for the community’s assistance. If you have any information regarding this crash, the driver or whereabouts of the suspect vehicle, contact Louisiana State Police Troop B at 504-471-2775.

Simoneaux was killed sometime overnight Friday into Saturday morning when struck and left by a motorist.

Authorities said the driver left the scene and police are still searching for the suspect.

Shortly after 7 a.m. Saturday, Louisiana State Police Troopers responded to the hit-and-run fatality.

The crash occurred on Louisiana 628 near Clement Drive in LaPlace.

The pedestrian, identified as Simoneaux, of LaPlace, died on the scene.

Preliminary investigation revealed Simoneaux was walking in or near the west bound lane of Louisiana 628 sometime during the night and was struck by an unknown vehicle.
