St. Peter Claver Day celebrated in Edgard

EDGARD — The Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary turned out to celebrate the annual St. Peter Claver Day in September at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edgard.

The celebrate was Rev. Rubustiano Morgia, pastor, spoke about the life of St. Peter Claver in his homily.

Three members of the Knights celebrated 50 years of service: James A. Pierre Sr., Bertrand Boudoin and Barry Dinvaut.

Five members of the Ladies Auxiliary celebrated their 50-year anniversaries: Wilhemina Bartholomew, Irene LeGaux, Cora Lee Songy, Shirley Thomas and Josephine Jackson.

Each recipient was awarded plaques, certificates and pins for their dedication and service.

James Pierre Sr. was recognized for 50 years of service.

Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary held their state convention in Baton Rouge, where Grand Lady Nancy Dumas was selected as The Grand Lady of Year Award for Louisiana. She illustrates exceptional and outstanding dedication and service to Claverism, the church and the community. The members of Court 66 of Edgard are proud to congratulate Dumas for her commitment and dedication to Claverism.

Josephine Jackson, Cora Lee Songy and Shirley Thomas were recognized for 50 years of service.
